Client: National Cable and Telecom Provider
Challenge: Time-sensitive mailings were taking too long to hit, disturbing an integrated marketing campaign that included television and radio and resulting in thousands of dollars in wasted media buys. In addition, the postage rates seemed elevated. The client wanted to cut costs and increase the effectiveness of their mailings.
Solution: Because of our expertise in postal regulations and rates, we knew we could help them get costs down. We made sure to drop off all mailings at the individual regional post offices in the areas the mailings targeted. By bypassing the general distribution center, we managed to greatly expedite delivery.
Result: The mailings hit within three days of the drop date, syncing up all channels of the client's integrated media platform. As if that weren't enough, we saved them $15,000 in postage rates. Client: National Financial Services Institution
Challenge: This large national bank was sending weekly regional mailings with dozens of variations, using laser printing on pre-printed stock. The inventory costs of maintaining the stock, coupled with the logistical headache of completing this complex mailing every week was taxing their internal team, their vendors, and cutting in to their bottom line.
Solution: Mercury's expertise in multivariate printing created the cost-saving solution. We developed a variable program to set up one letter for the multiple versions. Variables such as the corporate name, fees, product name, signer, telephone numbers and code change with each letter. By digitally printing on a high-end white stock we eliminated the inventory problems while still maintaining the characteristic quality of the brand.
Result: By partnering with Mercury, this client gets their mailing out like clockwork, at a lower cost than they ever thought possible. The file comes in on Friday, and is proofed, printed and mailed within five business days. Weekly reports keep them updated on mailing costs which vary by state.

Savings in the Cards at Mercury
Client: State-Wide Membership-Based Insurance Provider
Challenge: An unfortunate combination of outdated in-house equipment and preprinted card stock had the client scrambling for an outsourced solution for their membership card program. By relying on pre-printed stock, they were stuck with inventory storage costs plus waste whenever content changed.
Solution: Mercury developed a program based on blank stock eliminating the inventory problems entirely. Since our DataCard (laser imaging) equipment prints both the front and back of the card as well as a personalized letter, we were able to develop a library of templates, then print, match and insert the letters and cards into a window-envelope in one seamless process. To ensure privacy, the client passes a file through a secure VPN and we print and deliver the cards the same day. We even developed an on-line program (custom solutions) allowing the customer to design cards, and view reports and production from the comfort of their desk in real-time.
Result: Same-day delivery makes everyone happy! Besides saving on inventory and production, the customer has a state-of-the-art program, no longer has to track inventory and was able to reassign staff to keep their service top-notch.

Benefits Management Company Sees Benefits to the Bottom Line
Client: One of the Nation's Leading Prescription Benefit Managers
Challenge: New federal regulations required adherence to stringent guidelines about how to communicate prescription information. Every prescription purchased from thousands of pharmacies is passed to the insurer. They must gather this information and provide statements. It took almost a year for the software companies to write programs to accomplish this, but Mercury had to help their mailings catch-up ASAP!
Solution: Rather than a cut sheet statement consisting of multiple pages to be matched and inserted in each envelope, we recommended a booklet format processed on our roll-to-sheet printer, delivering high volumes in a short period of time. The booklets could be printed at the rate of 100,000 per shift. We created a custom-made, inter-service solution, combining a template for printing, a program to process the information, and a mailing service to make sure the statements arrived on time.
Result: The system resulted in a convenient monthly record and reduced costs. Once files are received we process files, provide proofs next day and begin mailing in 3 days. Along the way we've been able to identify and correct inaccurate data, creating custom code to check for accuracy.
